2. William Simmonds ARP (Air Raid Precautions) Maps
William Simmonds was Head Warden of the local ARP from 1942 to 1945. He produced these maps which, amongst other things, show the location of the downed Junkers 88, its aircrew and related debris, the Hurricane fighter and the high explosive bombs near Tunley.
The numbered dwellings cross reference with a list of occupants that you can find here.
3. The Parish Invasion Committee was set up in August 1941, the Rev. G. T. Haigh represented Oakridge.
