Description
Penny Remembers the School in the early 50's
Penny recalls the curriculum concentrated on the 3 Rs with a bit of History and Geography. Little science, but two days a week children could ask General Knowledge questions of Chas E (Weston) such as how cameras worked.
One of the children would go to Wear's farm (Little Court) and get milk which was ladled out for each child. There was no kitchen then and most went home for lunch.
The heating stoves in the classroom had pots of boiling water sat on top and Penny remembers putting plasticine on a stick and holding the stick in the water to warm up the plasticine.
Children sat in desks with a bench seat attached.
