Bathurst Meadow Lock

Title

Bathurst Meadow Lock

Description

1. This view of Bathurst Meadow Lock from c. 1920 shows some Woodchester boy scouts who were on an outing.

Some boys are resting on the balance beam and others have been swimming in the lock chamber. The group probably made their journey to here by rail to Chalford and then walked. The balance beam has 1903 on it, showing when the lock was previously restored.

2. Bathurst Meadow Lock c. 1930 with Siccaridge Wood Lower Lock in the distance. There is still some water in the chamber here.

These two locks were numbers two and three of the flight of seven locks from Whitehall Bridge up to the Summit Lock at Daneway.
