Whitehall Lower Lock

Title

Whitehall Lower Lock

Description

1. This picture was taken from below Whitehall Lower Lock in 1909.

The view shows the short pound between Puck Mill Upper Lock and Whitehall Lower Lock with the lock in the distance with the lengthsman's cottage alongside it. Following the restoration everything is now in good condition  and there is plenty of water and a good, well-trodden towpath.

2. This c. 1910 view from Frampton Common shows the long pound above Whitehall Lower Lock.

After the turn to avoid the river the canal straightens to run up to Whitehall Bridge at the right foreground. The houses above the trees are Trillis on the lane leading from Whitehall Bridge to Far Oakridge, up on the right skyline.
